Gyeongju
경주시 · Gyeongsangbuk-do
Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla kingdom for almost a thousand years, and its royal tomb mounds rise right in the middle of town. Bulguksa Temple and the Seokguram Grotto were among Korea's first UNESCO World Heritage listings in 1995, followed by the wider Gyeongju Historic Areas in 2000. Donggung Palace reflected in Wolji Pond is the classic night view.
