The most popular Jeju tours cover Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak), the Hallasan volcanic crater trail, and East or West Coast day tours that bundle several attractions into a single vehicle circuit. For active travelers, ATV and UTV off-road tours are widely booked, and Jeju's clear coastal waters make it one of the better spots in Korea for snorkeling and scuba diving. Folklore and culture tours focusing on the haenyeo (traditional female divers) and Jeju's Olle walking trails appeal to those after a slower pace. The right pick depends heavily on your fitness level, interests, and how much of the island you want to cover in the available days.

Jeju Island is reachable from Seoul primarily by domestic flight. Gimpo–Jeju and Incheon–Jeju are among the busiest domestic routes in South Korea, with flights taking around one hour. Multiple carriers operate these routes daily. Ferry services exist from several ports on the mainland (including Mokpo and Wando) but the crossing takes several hours and is not commonly used by time-limited travelers coming from Seoul. For most visitors, flying is the practical choice. Booking flights in advance is advisable, especially during public holidays and peak seasons when the route sells out.

Both options are viable. Renting a car gives you full flexibility, and Jeju's roads are well-signposted and straightforward to drive — this is a popular choice for travelers who want to set their own pace and stop wherever they like. Guided tours work better if you are visiting solo without a license, want context from a local guide at key sites like Seongsan Ilchulbong or Manjanggul Lava Tube, or prefer not to navigate. East and West Coast package tours are particularly efficient for covering multiple sites in a single day without driving. Some attractions — especially off-road experiences like ATV tours — require a licensed operator by definition.

Two full days at minimum will let you cover the main highlights — typically the eastern side (Seongsan, Manjanggul, Seongup Folk Village) on one day and the western or central side (Hallasan, Jeongbang Waterfall, Olle trails, Hyeopjae Beach) on the other. Three days is more comfortable, especially if you want to attempt Hallasan's longer Seongpanak trail and leave time for coast exploration or leisure. Four or five days suit travelers who want to do both the hiking and the underwater activities and are happy to slow down in between. The island is compact enough that you will not be continuously driving long distances.

Spring (April to May) and autumn (October to November) offer mild temperatures and clear skies — ideal for hiking Hallasan and exploring coastal trails without summer heat or winter chill. Spring also brings cherry blossoms and canola flower fields across the island. Summer (June to August) is the main holiday season, with warm weather suited to beach and water activities, but the island is at its busiest and accommodation costs rise. Typhoon season (July to September) brings occasional closures at Hallasan's summit trails due to weather. Winter is the quietest and coldest period; Hallasan often has snow at higher elevations, which draws hikers. The island is visitable year-round, but spring and autumn are the most consistently pleasant windows.

A Jeju day trip from Seoul is technically possible by taking an early domestic flight from Gimpo and a late return flight — this gives you around six to eight hours on the island. In that window you could cover one or two major sites, such as Seongsan Ilchulbong plus Manjanggul Lava Tube, or a guided East Coast tour. However, the time and cost of two flights for a single day is a steep trade-off. Most travelers who make the effort to fly to Jeju stay at least two nights. If you only have one day available, an efficient guided tour that handles transport between sites makes the most of the limited window.
