How to take a taxi in Korea (2026 basics)
- Every licensed taxi has a meter. If a driver quotes a flat price instead, show 미터기로 부탁드립니다 (please use the meter) or take the next cab.
- Cards work. Licensed taxis accept credit cards and T-money. Show 카드로 결제할게요 before you get in if you want to be sure.
- Ride-hailing apps can block you. Kakao T may require a Korean phone number or card for some visitors. Street-hailing with this card is the fallback that always works.
- Airport rides. From Incheon, the airport taxi rank has fixed zones by colour; show the Terminal card on the way back so the driver picks the right terminal.
