Ulleungdo is a steep volcanic island about 120 km off the east coast, reached only by ferry — roughly three to six hours from mainland ports including Pohang, weather permitting. Expect cliff-hugging coastal roads and walks, the 984 m Seonginbong peak, and boat trips toward Dokdo when seas allow; sailings can be cancelled for days in rough weather.
