Myeongdo takes its name from the character &ldquo;myeong,&rdquo; which means &ldquo;bright,&rdquo; as its clear waters were likened to the union of the moon and the sun. It is also known as Yakdo Island,<strong data-start="170" data-end="205">&nbsp;</strong>or &ldquo;Medicinal Island,&rdquo; for the wide variety of medicinal herbs that thrive there despite constant exposure to sea winds. Centered around Bangchukdo Island, visitors can enjoy sightseeing cruises and fishing by boat, and admire the island&rsquo;s beautiful and unusual rock formations. In the mountainous areas of the island, dozens of medicinal herb species grow after enduring the harsh sea winds. The most well-known among them is<strong> </strong>laserwot, called&nbsp; bangpung in Korean, which is traditionally believed to help prevent postpartum pain syndrome in pregnant women and to offer effects such as inducing perspiration, reducing fever, relieving pain, and alleviating neuralgia, purportedly expelling 36 types of pain. It is also said to be effective in improving concentration, particularly for students preparing for exams.<br>

Hakdong Village was designated as a Farming Village in 2016 following a project to create a Mountain ecological village in 2004. Its representative experiences include making seedless dried persimmon, collecting freshwater snail, making persimmon tart, ecological garden programs, and various seasonal activities. The Seedless Persimmon Village Recreation Center provides accommodation and operates a restaurant managed by the women's association of Hakdong Village and a village cafe. Thanks to the clean natural environment, exciting seasonal activities can be enjoyed year-round, and a sense of community has been formed through the community village project.

Iksan Safety Experience Training Center is a safety training facility founded to raise public awareness on safety prevention and management, covering a wide variety of safety hazards that can occur in the everyday or workplace environment through fun and interactive content. The center uses VR and smart technology to simulate real-life emergency situations to educate the public on how to prevent and handle hazardous situations. It has 50 interactive content overall, spread out among six different themed halls. The training center is open to visitors of all ages for free.

Samcheon-dong Makgeolli Street is the 200-meter-long line of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) bars clustered together along Geomasan-ro Street in Wansan-gu, Jeonju. Once known as the city for producing the best makgeolli in the nation, Jeonju is home to many makgeolli breweries and bars, which are concentrated in Samcheon-dong. Many of these locations formed in the &lsquo;90s, when makgeolli rose as the country&rsquo;s most favorite alcohol at the time. The makgeolli breweries and bars in Samcheon-dong are renowned for withstanding the test of time, and the area is now a designated Jeonju Future Heritage. Many of the bars in Samcheong-dong provide authentic Korean side dish that pair well with makgeolli, and the neighborhood is considered a must-visit for experiencing the authentic local vibe.<br>

Naejangsan Maple Ecology Park is created near Jaejangho Lake in Jeongeup and has diverse kinds of trees, included 11 types of indigenous maple trees. The park comprises diverse maple-themed recreational amenities such as Maple Experience Exhibition Center, various gardens, maple tunnel trails, and more. The best time to enjoy the park is in Novemeber when the fall foliage is at its peak and the park hosts a variety of events and exhibitions.

Pihyangjeong Pavilion is known to be the most outstanding pavilion in all of Jeolla region. Orignally, there were two ponds around the pavilion, but one of the ponds were filled up with soil during the Japanese period. The pavilion's name derived from the scent of water lilies that bloomed afloat on the ponds. The pavilion demonstrates all the basic components of a typical pavilion built during the Joseon dynasty and is valued as an historical example of a wooden architecture during the mid-Joseon dynasty.&nbsp;

A typical example of an aristocrat's house, this residence was built in the 8th year of King Jeongjo's reign in the Joseon dynasty by Kim Myeong-gwan, the 6th generation descendent of Kim Dong-su. Kim Myeong-gwan carefully considered the principles of geomancy when choosing the location of the house, with Cheonghasan Mountain to the back and Dongjingang River to the front, and it took ten years to complete the house. Upon entering the main gate, the house reveals a balanced symmetry with the daecheongmaru (wooden floor hall) at the center. Every component of the house was placed and designed to create a balance with the surroundings and efficient movement within the premises. Because the house contains most of its original form and displays a beautiful harmony with the natural surroundings, it is regarded as valuable research material. Although there may be limitations, viewing is generally allowed.&nbsp;

Haseom Observatory offers a bird&rsquo;s-eye view of Haseom Island, which gets its name due to its resemblance to a lotus flower. The observatory is well-known for offering the views of sea parting, Korea&rsquo;s Miracle of Moses, which occurs on the 1^st and 15^th of every month in the Lunar Calendar when the sea tides recede, revealing a 2-kilometers-long shoreline. It is famous for its abundance of clams, hence sometimes called &ldquo;half clams-half mud.&rdquo; The elevated location of the observatory allows visitors to enjoy the views of the wide sky and beautiful sunsets.

Herb One hosts a Lavender Festival every year during the lavender blooming period. It has over 300,000 Lavenders and 40,000 Lavandin, covering the area purple. There are also sunflowers and cosmos to please the eyes.&nbsp;

It is the only prison set in Korea made for movie filming. Dramas like "Delightfully Deceitful" and " Divorce Attorney Shin" and movies like "Tazza" and "Miracle in Cell No. 7" were filmed here. Although the set was built using a closed school, shooting photos in places like the court, solitary confinement, interrogation rooms, and torture chambers can feel eerie. Renting costumes and becoming a correctional officer or inmate provides a more realistic prison experience.

Jaman Mural Village is located on a hillside across the road from Jeonju Hanok Village. The village was formed by Korean war refugees resettling where they could, and remained as a small village interlaced by narrow pathways. In 2012, over 40 murals were created as a part of a city project and became popular for photographs. Many of the houses have been converted into cafes, guesthouses, and restaurants.

Imsil Cheese Village is the home of Korean cheese. In 1966, Father Didier t'Serstevens (Korean name: Ji Jeong-hwan), a Belgian priest, brought two mountain goats to the village and started making cheese. He worked day and night with the locals to make the cheese that has earned its current reputation. Imsil Cheese Village runs experience programs such as mozzarella cheese making and yogurt making.

Sunchang Gochujang Village is home to expert gochujang (Korean chili paste) crafters using the traditional methods. Visitors can learn how to make gochujang and enjoy dishes using it, such as tteokbokki (rice cakes cooked with gochujang) and wild vegetables bibimbap. The village is fully equipped with accommodations, restaurants, seminar rooms, and other facilities, providing perfect conditions for a variety of hands-on experiences.&nbsp;<br>

Suseongdang Canola Field refers to the colony of canola flowers that can be found along the trekking course connecting Saemangeum Information Center and Byeonsan Beach. Located near Suseongdang Shrine, the canola field spreads across an area of 32,000 ㎡, and transforms into a field of buckwheat flowers in summer, followed by cosmos flowers in fall, and becomes blanketed with snow in winter. This area is even more popular due to the scenery of canola flowers with an ocean backdrop as Jeju Island is the only other region in Korea to offer such scenery.&nbsp;

During the Joseon dynasty, officials and envoys visiting Jeonju stayed here. Today, it is open for anyone to see. The long and spacious maru (wooden central space) is open to the public, making it a comfortable resting place for citizens and tourists. Located in downtown Jeonju, it is easy to find and close to Jeonju Hanok Village.

Tafoni terrain refer to clusters of small caves resembling bombarded peaks. On the southern slope of Ammaibong Peak in Maisan Mountain, various-shaped honeycomb caves are widely spread out. These formations are believed to have been formed during the 4th Ice Age and subsequently shaped by frost action. Such caves are commonly found along coastlines.

Dongsang Unjangsangyegok Valley is a valley located at the easternmost part of Wanju. Spanning approximately 9 kilometers, it combines Dongsanggyegok Valley and Unjangsangyegok Valley. With its picturesque valley and refreshing waterfalls, it attracts visitors from all over the country during the summer months for recreation. In autumn, the colorful foliage further enhances the joy of hiking.

Byeonsan Natural Recreation Forest is a coastal natural recreation forest located within the Byeonsanbando National Park. Offering views of both mountains and sea, it boasts a distinctive charm and provides forest tour, experiential program, and accommodation facilities. Visitors can engage in simple crafts using pine cones and pine trees, as well as forest strolling programs such as walking through the pine forest. Nearby attractions include Chaeseokgang Cliff in Gyeokpo and Byeonsan Beach.

Hyangjeokbong Peak, standing at an elevation of 1,614 meters, is the highest peak of Deogyusan Mountain. It is an ideal destination for hiking year-round, but particularly renowned for its breathtaking winter scenery, earning a reputation as a popular spot for snow-covered mountain hikes. Visitors can reach the summit of Hyangjeokbong Peak by taking a gondola from the nearby Muju Resort to Seolcheonbong Peak, then embarking on a roughly 20-minute hike from Seolcheonbong Peak. Even beginners can enjoy the fantastic views of Deogyusan Mountain without much difficulty, contributing to its popularity.

Dalgunggyegok Valley is a valley located within the Jirisan National Park. It spans 6 kilometers from Dalgung Village to Simwon Village. Surrounded by dense primeval forests, it showcases the pristine beauty of an untouched valley where human hands have yet to reach. The combination of the valley and cliffs creates stunning scenery. Nearby Dalgung Village also preserves remnants of ancient Mahan palaces.

Gosan Mountain is a beautiful mountain that rises sharply from the plains, offering stunning views from its summit at an elevation of 572 meters. The mountain delights hikers with lush pine forests and interesting rock formations. Gosan Mountain is also known for its numerous dolmens, dating back to prehistoric times, and the Gosansanseong Fortress, built during the Later Three Kingdoms period, providing plenty of attractions for visitors.

The Naejangsan Cultural Tourism Musical Fountain, set within Naejangsan Water Park, boasts an impressive array of over 110 songs, ranging from children's tunes and pop hits to movie soundtracks. Accompanied by 14 unique fountain shows featuring various types, the display is indeed a sight to behold. Spanning 56 meters in length and 21 meters in x_width, the fountain includes 463 nozzles and 276 underwater lights, all designed to captivate and amaze onlookers. The musical fountain offers three performances daily, each catering to different music tastes and themes. The 19:00 show highlights classic pop songs, the 20:00 show is perfect for young children with a repertoire of children&rsquo;s music, and the 21:00 show soothes the evening with ballads and idol music. Whether one is with their significant other or enjoying family time, the musical fountain&rsquo;s performances&mdash;akin to a magical dance of water and light&mdash;are sure to provide an enchanting experience.

Sanoe Hanu Village is situated approximately 30 minutes from downtown Jeongeup. This establishment exclusively deals in hanu (Korean beef), facilitating direct transactions between producers and businesses, which allows for lower prices due to its family-oriented business model. Here, visitors can savor delicious, nutritious, and affordably priced beef. Most shops at the village function as both butcher shops and restaurants, so one can select their preferred cut of meat. Upon ordering, guests will receive a simple table setting, which includes five to six side dishes, priced at around 5,000 won per person, and the chosen meat will be served.

Located at the end of Jeokbyeokgang Cliff, Suseongdang Shrine is the only shrine in Korea that is dedicated to the sea god &ldquo;Gaeyang Halmeoni&rdquo; (Granny Gaeyang), the deity who rules over the West Sea, and her eight daughters. This is a place that holds rituals for the welfare and safety of fishers. Visitors can also see cairns dedicated to the fishermens&rsquo; safety. For tourists, however, this shrine is notable for its canola flowers. In early spring, the road connecting Suseongdang Shrine with Jeokbyeokgang Cliff blooms in yellow canola flowers, creating a beloved view and a premier photo area of the region. It is a recommended spot to see the flowers when visiting Buan in springtime.<br>
