Hyundai Cruise Line, Korea's first marine tourism cruise operator, was founded in 1983 and renamed Seoul Cruise after building a new terminal in Yeouido. With Yeouido Ferry Terminal as its base, Seoul Cruise is the only passenger cruise operator that can travel from the Hangang River to the West Sea, passing through the Ara West Sea Lock. The company currently operates from two terminals: Yeouido Ferry Terminal and Ara Gimpo Terminal. Until the Gayang apartment complex was built, the area where the ginkgo tree is located was a historic place with a beautiful landscape and many anecdotes and legends. Before the Goryeo dynasty, its location served as an important strategic point along the lower part of the Hangang River, where it had a ferry dock with boats that bypassed Haengju and Paju as a shortcut for commuting between Kaeseong and Pyongyang, and is associated with many legends of historical figures who had used the dock. The ginkgo tree also appears in a painting drawn by Gyeomjae Jeongseon, a historic painter of the Joseon dynasty.

Songhyeon Green Plaza, located between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jongno, is a space for culture and rest. The site was formerly used as housing for Shiksan Bank during Japanese rule. After Korea&rsquo;s liberation, it served as a residence for the US Embassy and military personnel. Later in 1997, it was returned to the Korean government but remained unused for years. In 2022, the ownership was transferred to the Korean House and Land Corporation and then to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, which redeveloped it into a green plaza and opened it to the public. Upon entering the plaza, visitors are greeted by a spacious lawn adorned with flowers during the blooming season. The plaza is connected to the nearby tourist attractions through shortcuts cutting through it, including Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), Gwanghwamun Plaza, Insa-dong, and Bukchon Hanok Village. &nbsp;<br>

Located at the Hangang River, Bamseom Island derives its name from its chestnut-like shape (bam in Korean). The island was designated as an Ecosystem Conservation Area by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 1999 and was later recognized as Ramsar Wetland in 2012. Now an uninhabited island, Bamseom Island was once home to around 443 people, who were relocated after the island was exploded as part of the Yeouido Development Project. Today, it is known as a habitat for numerous migratory birds and plant species. People can enjoy views of the Island from Bamseom Park.<br>

The 100-year-old traditional hanok Kansong House sits by the burial mound of Kansong Jeon Hyeong-pil (1906-1962), who played a significant role in preserving the cultural heritages of Korea during the Japanese colonial period. This house was orginally built by Kansong's adoptive father Jeon Myeong-gi (1870-1919) to us as a storage facilities for harvested agriculture from the northern Gyeonggi-do and Hwanghae. Some damages were done to the house during the Korean War, and partial repair was made after his death.
