The building of Woo-ri Art Institute was built in 1924 as company housing for the Chungbuk Financial Association and was later used as the Cheongju YMCA building from 1954. It was famous at the time for its tin roof with sharp edges constructed at a 45-degree-angle. Being a hip-roofed house with roof tiles from all four sides converging at the top of the roof, it has a unique bungalow-style exterior which is rarely seen in Japanese houses in the era. It was once selected as Cheongju’s most beautiful house, and also used as a kindergarten. Currently, it is an art institute where musicians learn to play the marimba. The site has been designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 9.

The main building of the Chungbuk Provincial Office was built in April 1937 with two stories, and then expanded to three stories in 1959. The building has been constructed symmetrically around the main entrance, and finished with brown scratch tiles popular at the time. It still houses the office of the governor and plays a central role in the administration of Chungcheongbuk-do to this day. The site has been designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 55. Right opposite the Chungbuk Provincial Office building is the Chungbuk Industrial Promotion Center, designated National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 352. It was built in 1936 and used as a promotion and exhibition space for businessmen in Chungcheongbuk-do Province. The entire facade has been geometrically designed using modernist architectural techniques.

Jeil Church is Cheongju's first church, first established as Cheongju-eup Church in 1904. It not only spread the gospel, but also acted as the bastion of modernization, championing activism for independence, enlightenment, social and cultural development and women's rights. The church also founded Cheongnam School, Cheongju's first modern education institution. It played a key role in the education of the community over the course of its history, with the establishment of Cheongsin Girls' School in 1909, Sangdang Kindergarten in 1926, the Cheongju YMCA in 1945, Segwang Middle School in 1949, and Segwang High School in 1953. During the Japanese colonial era, the Japanese government tried to demolish Mangseonnu Pavilion, a wooden building from the Goryeo Dynasty. Jeil Church led a campaign to save the pavillion, reconstructing it in its grounds. The church building, constructed in October 1939 as a central spire-type Gothic brick building and expanded in 1950, is also noted for its significance to modern Korean architecture.
