Dokkaebi Road (Mysterious Road) (도깨비 도로)

However, surprisingly, on this particular road in Jeju, the ball starts to roll up the hill instead. What would you do? Following Road 1100 after passing the Jeju Art Museum, you will encounter this unique road. It is known as the ‘Dokkaebi Road’ or ‘Mystery Road.’ The name ‘Dokkaebi’ refers to mischievous hobgoblins found in Korean traditional fairy tales. The road has gained its names because when round objects are placed here, they appear to roll upward instead of downhill. Even water seems to move against gravity. Vehicles appear to defy logic and roll in the opposite direction. It's akin to witnessing magic. You can conduct the experiment yourself. Place a water bottle or a ball on the road and observe its movement. Surprisingly, it will start rolling uphill. Isn't it fascinating? But do you want to know the truth behind this illusion?
