Hajodae Beach is located right next to Hajodae. Hajodae was designated as Scenic Point No. 68. You can reach Hajodae Beach after passing through a dense pine forest. Hajodae Beach has a 100m wide sandy beach spanning some 1.5km in length. As the water is not very deep, at most around 1.5m in depth, this beach is popular as a vacation spot for families. Couples walk on the wide and soft sandy beach as part of a romantic date. With an appropriate amount of waves, Hajodae Beach is also popular among surfers. The embankment on the right side of the beach and a rocky island are great fishing points and the dense pine forest lets you enjoy forest bathing. Another attraction of Hajodae Beach is the skywalk located at the end of the beach. Climbing up the small steps, you will find the skywalk in the shape of a lighthouse. From the skywalk, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the crystal clear sea and the beautiful sandy beach. In summer, the fisherman experience event is popular at Hajodae Beach. Catching squid with bare hands is the most popular activity. By paying a fee of 10,000 won, you can catch as many squid as you can within the time limit. If participants fail to catch any squid, they even hand out squid for free. They say nothing beats the taste of freshly prepared squid dipped in vinegared gochujang sauce. Make sure to give it a go if you are after a new and different experience.

"Haeparang Trail Course 43 runs from Hajodae Beach to Susan Port. The starting point, Hajodae Beach, first opened to the public in 1976. The white sands stretch 1.5 kilometers in length and 100 meters in width. Fresh water flowing in from the Gwangjeongcheon and Sanguncheon streams gently raises the temperature of the seawater, making the water here noticeably warmer than at other beaches along the coast. For that reason, Hajodae has long been a favorite of families with children. Heading north, you arrive at Surfyy Beach. Did you know that this beach, now packed with parasols, sun loungers, and people carrying surfboards, was a military zone fenced off behind barbed wire only a little over a decade ago? Off-limits to civilians for more than forty years, the beach had, ironically, preserved a stretch of pristine sand and ocean precisely because no one was allowed to set foot on it. In 2014, a man who had worked as a snowboard instructor, as the head of an advertising agency in Seoul, and as an employee at BC Card came to this place, saying he wanted ""to learn the sea."" In July of 2015, he set up two shipping containers and hung up a sign reading ""Korea's First Surf-Only Beach."" At the time, there wasn't a single sunshade on the entire stretch of sand, the barbed-wire fence still ran the length of the shore, and visitors could only enter when a soldier on duty opened the gate for them. After the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway opened and the first Sunset Festival was held here in 2017, word spread quickly, and Surfyy Beach became a magnet for Koreans in their twenties and thirties. Past Surfyy Beach lies Dongho Beach. Tucked right beside Yangyang International Airport, it is not large, but it is well known for the fineness of its sand. Right next to Dongho Beach is Yangyang International Airport. The project began as a campaign promise of former President Roh Tae-woo in 1987 and was pushed forward in earnest under the Kim Young-sam administration. Originally scheduled to open in 2000, the airport's launch was delayed by the fallout from the Asian Financial Crisis and finally opened its doors in April 2002. But just months before its opening, the expansion of the Daegwallyeong section of the Yeongdong Expressway had already dramatically improved access to the east coast. Passenger numbers fell sharply, and when Korean Air withdrew its services in 2008, the airport effectively ceased operating. Even after being designated the official airport of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, increases in passenger traffic remained modest, and by May 2023, regular scheduled flights had stopped once again. Past the airport, the trail continues along the coast and brings you to the final stop of this course, Susan Port. The waters of Susan Port are so clean that eelgrass grows here naturally. Eelgrass is a marine plant that cannot survive in polluted waters, and the very presence of an eelgrass colony inside the inner harbor itself is proof of how pure these waters remain. Step further into the harbor and a striking scene unfolds before you, rows of yachts with white sails moored side by side. This is the largest yacht marina on Korea's east coast. National competitions including the President's Cup Yacht Race and the Korea Coast Guard Commissioner's Cup Yacht Race are held here, and the Yangyang County-run yacht academy sees some 300 graduates a year hoist their first sail over the waves of the East Sea. A fishermen's port and a yachtsmen's port sharing the same waters, this is Susan Port today. In every step, Course 43 brings together a sea that was once closed off and is now opened wide, an airport that still dreams of taking flight, and yachts setting their sails to the wind: the dreams, the setbacks, and the new beginnings that this coast has long held, all unfolding along a single path.
