Guksabong Peak is a 230 m above sea level located in the center of Muuido Island, and from here, you can continue your hike to Horyonggoksan Mountain along the foot of the mountain or go down to Hanagae Beach. Horyonggoksan Mountain, whose name originates from a legend that a tiger and a dragon fought there in the ancient times, is a low, 244 m-tall mountain, but it is still the tallest point on the island. As you go up and down the mountain and overlook the sea, you can see islands appearing like dots in the West Sea and the horizon roaming as it is covered in the sea mist. If you only wish to climb Horyonggoksan Mountain, you can start climbing from near the Hanagae Recreation Area. Pine trees, Korean hornbeam trees, and oak trees form a thick forest, and here, you can also observe a variety of rare plants. On your way up, you will encounter rocks of different shapes. such as Horang Rock and Buddha Rock. You can also get a panoramic view of the West Sea and the islands in the vicinity. If you descend from the top to Hanagae Recreation Area, you can walk along the forest path on the beach hillside and encounter the “Road of Dream” where the dazzling sea unfolds under your feet.
