Yeosu Maritime Cable Car Yeosu Maritime Cable Car is the first of its kind installed in Korea and the fourth throughout Asia. It is a 1.5km-long cable car that connects Dolsan Park and Jasan Park and offers you an amazing experience of passing over the sea of Yeosu in a cable car. You can get on the cable car from either Dolsan Park or Jasan Park. You can go for a round trip or simply take a one-way trip. There are two types of cable cars; one is the regular cable car with glass on all four sides and the other is the crystal cable car whose floor is also made of glass. As you float above the sea in a maritime cable car, you can see all of the major tourist attractions of downtown Yeosu, including Geobukseondaegyo Bridge, Dolsandaegyo Bridge, Janggundo Island and Yi Sun-Sin Square. You may also watch the fishing boats setting out to sail, and cars driving over the bridge pass below your feet, which makes it feel as if you are looking at a miniature village. The three landscapes that you should not miss here are the seascape of sunlight reflecting in the water on a clear day, the golden sea of Yeosu at sunset, and the night view of Yeosu embroidered with night lights. Food is not allowed when riding the cable car so you have to finish your snacks and food before getting on. Facing Dolsandaegyo Bridge, Dolsan Park was built in 1987. At Dolsan Park, you can see Yeosu Port, Ria coast, Dadohae, meaning “sea with many islands,” and South Gyeongsang Province’s portion of Namhae (“South Sea”). In 2000, a tower depicting the dynamic movement of fishermen pulling a fishnet was erected to mark completion of the construction while in 2002, a park for the fishing village and a commemorative tower were built to pay tribute to the fishermen who died working in rough seas. At the top of the park center, a time capsule was placed of a variety of items related to integration of Yeosu, Yeocheon and Dolsan counties in 1994. The capsule will be opened on April 1, 2098, marking the centenary of the integration.
