Maninsan stands 538 meters above sea level. Beyond its peaks lies Geumsan, South Chungcheong Province. Due to its height and strategic location, a beacon fire station was built at its summit during the Gojoseon period. According to a legend, following advice from the great monk Muhak, the tomb of King Taejo Yi Seong-gye, originally located in Hamgyeong Province, was relocated to Maninsan. The peaks of Maninsan are said to resemble a lotus flower. The well-maintained hiking trails and forest paths make it a perfect destination for trekking. The mountain is the source to Daejeoncheon Stream, one of the three major rivers in Daejeon, which originates in the Bongsuremi Valley of Maninsan. The rest area at the mountain's entrance is popular among those who enjoy scenic drives. Behind the rest area lies a pond where swans and ducks swim, and visitors can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the circular trail. Another option is to take a walk along the elevated exploration path through the forest. Opened in 1997 and newly renovated in 2017, the Maninsan Green Learning Center features an exhibition hall, an observatory, educational spaces, a mini zoo, and group lodging facilities that can accommodate up to 150 people. The Maninsan Natural Recreation Forest is especially beautiful in autumn, with its vibrant foliage from dense broadleaf forests. Slowly walking along the well-groomed forest trails, you’ll eventually reach the Taejo Daewang Tomb, where sections 2 and 3 of the Daejeon Dulle-gil trail meet. For the adventurous, there’s a swaying rope bridge along the trail.
